What Cleard is

Cleard is software that helps an Australian real estate agency carry out and evidence customer due diligence. Today that means remote identity capture with a liveness and face match check, filed against a property with a timestamped entry. Other capabilities described on this site as arriving at launch are not available yet, and nothing here should be read as promising a date for them.

What Cleard is not

Using Cleard does not make an agency compliant, and no software can. The obligations sit with the reporting entity: having an anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) program appropriate to the business, applying it, keeping the records and reporting when required. Cleard performs a step and evidences it. The judgement remains the agency's.

Cleard does not provide legal advice. The guides on this site explain published AUSTRAC material in plain language and cite it, which is not the same as advice about your agency's circumstances.

Your responsibilities

Agencies are responsible for having a lawful basis to collect the information they put through Cleard, for telling the people they verify what is happening, and for the accuracy of what they enter. If your program requires a step Cleard does not perform, performing it remains your responsibility.

Availability and changes

Cleard is pre-launch. Features, pricing and these terms may change before general availability, and material changes will be reflected on this page. Pricing shown on this site is in Australian dollars.

What is not yet settled

Contract length, notice periods, service levels and liability are being finalised and are deliberately not stated here rather than being invented. If your agency needs them before committing, ask and you will get the current position, including where the position is that it is still open.
